Young Euro Classic Orchestra

Germany-France-Russia

Konzerthaus Berlin, November 12, 2021

Originally destined to perform at the IX. International Cultural Forum St. Petersburg in the Mariinsky Theater, the Young Euro Classic Orchestra Germany-France-Russia had to cancel the concert at short notice due to the epidemic situation. Now the endeavor is rerouted to Konzerthaus Berlin - as a musical conclusion to the „Deutschlandjahr” in Russia.

The joint venture of the Bundesjugendorchester (BJO), Orchester Français des Jeunes (OFJ) and the St. Petersburg Conservatory “N.A. Rimski-Korsakow “(RKK) brings together the best young musicians from all three countries. Within a week they develop a program truly European programme: under the direction of internationally successful conductor Ariane Matiakh (France), works by Gabriel Fauré, Sergei Prokofjew and Ludwig van Beethoven will be heard. The outstanding soloist Veronika Eberle (Germany) will be playing Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 in D major.

In addition, excerpts from Fyodor M. Dostoyevsky's work will be cited during the concert by actor Jens Harzer on the occasion of Dostoyevsky’s 200th birthday.

As a platform for excellence, orchestra development has been part of the DNA of Young Euro Classic, the festival of the best youth orchestras in the world, for over 20 years.
