Port of Hamburg
8 - 16 October 2022
For the first time, the cross-disciplinary international art festival "ClimateArtFest" will take place in the Port of Hamburg - a pilot project for a future biennial of climate art. Under the direction of artist and researcher Claudius Schulze, the project will spend nine days challenging artistic, political and social conventions and encouraging creative individual and collective responses to the climate crisis.
The programme includes performances, exhibitions, discussions, films and workshops. As the ark of climate change, the historic harbour barge "Arca Futuris" will be moored in Hamburg harbour for the duration of the festival, creating a space for various stage and exhibition projects, workshop spaces and temporary meeting places in the middle of the city of Hamburg.
An open call invites Hamburg artists to contribute their works and projects; applications are still open until 20 September. In conjunction with curated positions by internationally renowned artists such as Tomás Saraceno, a multifaceted programme will be created as an artistic contribution to the debate of importance to society as a whole.
