EVERYBODY IS GONE

Immersive performance about the situation of the Uyghurs in the region Xinjiang, China

July 27th - August 2nd, 2022

Developed by Uyghur dancer, filmmaker, and anthropologist Mukaddas Mijit and The New Wild over three years, EVERYBODY IS GONE is an innovative live event that provides audiences with a unique perspective on the ongoing crisis in the Uyghur Homeland. Uniting elements of journalism, live performance, and art exhibition, the immersive event offers audiences the opportunity to deeply and personally understand the impact of the state-backed surveillance and oppression that affect millions.

EVERYBODY IS GONE touches on themes of coercion, incarceration, surveillance, and the security state. Audience members will be invited to take part in a number of different activities during the event and can expect to interact with both EVERYBODY IS GONE team members and other attendees. Audience members will also have the opportunity to explore video testimonials of Uyghurs describing the experiences of themselves and their family members at the hands of Chinese officials.

English is the primary language of EVERYBODY IS GONE. Attendees can expect to interact with team members in written and spoken English.
