LUFT I WURZELN 2022
After last year’s 25th anniversary celebration, the Berlin-based Kairos Quartett reformed at the beginning of 2022 and is now relaunching with its "LUFT | WURZELN" concert series.
Since its founding in 1996, the Kairos Quartett has dedicated itself to the performance of seminal compositions of the late 20th and 21st centuries and curates many projects itself. After 25 years with numerous performances worldwide and various recordings, the Berlin ensemble is looking to the future with a new line-up. The two co-founders of the Kairos Quartett, Simone Heilgendorff and Claudius von Wrochem, have been joined by young violinists Veronika Paleeva and Alicja Pilarczyk. Both pursue interdisciplinary approaches to music and art that optimally complement the quartet's orientation with its interpretations of international and multimedia compositions. The Kairos Quartett will be performing together for the first time in this new line-up over the course of the concert series "LUFT | WURZELN".
The title of the concert series LUFT | WURZELN is a reference to composer Sandeep Bhagwati, who - born in India, raised in Germany and today commuting between Canada, Switzerland and Germany - uses the term Luftwurzeln to describe his idea of home. As an independent, cosmopolitan and internationally active ensemble, the Kairos Quartett identifies with this description and has chosen this phrase as the title of its 2022 concert series.
