The Berlin Bach family
6 March to 23 April 2025
The traditional spring exhibition at the Eisenach Bach House in Berlin Cathedral is back! In the 275th anniversary year of Bach's death, it is dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach's three visits to Berlin and the members of his family who worked in the capital under the title ‘The Berlin Bach Family’: his sons Carl Philipp Emanuel, Wilhelm Friedemann and Johann Christian Bach, his grandson Johann Sebastian Bach the Younger, who grew up here, and his grandson Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst Bach, who came to Berlin in 1788, became court conductor and worked as piano teacher to Queen Luise.
On Bach's birthday on 21 March 2025, the new Hett Collection will be presented in the rooms of the museum in Eisenach, which have been specially converted for the occasion and will remain permanently in the Bachhaus from then on.
The exhibition 500 Years of Hymnal - 300 Years of Bach's Choral Cantatas at the Bachhaus Eisenach was dedicated to this double anniversary until 3 November 2024. For restoration reasons, a longer exhibition period was not possible. The reduced exhibition will remain on display until the end of April 2025.
In summer 2025, visitors can then look forward to the new special exhibition at the Bachhaus on the 150th anniversary of Albert Schweitzer's birth.
