“Closing gaps - creating space”
The Wüstenrot Foundation's Design Award is an architecture competition that, in its 14th round, is dedicated to one of the most pressing issues of our time: Housing shortage and land scarcity. In 2024, the focus will be on the topic of redensification: how can remaining plots of land, vacant buildings and urban wasteland in our towns and villages be transformed into sustainable living spaces? The award recognizes projects that offer solutions with architectural excellence that are convincing in terms of ecology, social responsibility and design. Each shortlisted project stands for the highest quality of design, sustainable use, innovative concepts for the conversion of existing buildings, climate-friendly construction methods and economic viability.
The award ceremony and announcement of the winners will take place on January 28, 2025 at the Hospitalhof in Stuttgart. The full prize money amounts to 60,000 euros. A publication on the competition will be presented at the award ceremony and a mobile exhibition will be opened.
