The Dutch Books podcast

ARTEFAKT produces “Kopje Koffie: The Dutch Books Podcast.” The acclaimed series highlights recent German-language translations of Dutch-language books and the authors behind them, and has built a loyal audience in more than 80 countries. It was launched in 2021 during the pandemic as an initiative commissioned by Flanders Literature in Antwerp and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Berlin. The podcast also served as a prelude to the guest-of-honor programme “The Netherlands & Flanders at the Leipzig Book Fair 2024,” for which ARTEFAKT handled media relations and social media. From 2026 onwards, the podcast will continue as an exclusively Dutch project.

Kopje koffie—over a cup of coffee, journalists Katharina Borchardt and Bettina Baltschev sit down with authors from the Netherlands and Flanders to talk about new books from the literature of our neighboring countries. Episodes feature readings in the original language as well as personal insights from the guests. The German-language podcast invites listeners to explore the rich and vibrant landscape of contemporary Dutch-language literature.
