Lausitz Festival 2023

August 25 - September 10, 2023

In the heterogeneous landscape of Lusatia – “Lausitz”, which stretches from Brandenburg and Saxony to the Polish borderland, the "Lausitz Festival" invites visitors in late summer to concerts ranging from classical to jazz, to dance and theater performances, literary matinees, philosophical discussions, song recitals and exhibitions of contemporary art. The venues reflect the eventful history of Lusatia - in addition to architecturally impressive theaters, palaces and parks, movie theaters, industrial monuments and churches become the stage for international art experiences.

The performative event is an interplay of outstanding artists from all over the world, who interact with audiences from near and far at extraordinary locations in the region. As a border region located in the geographical center of Europe, Lusatia represents a tradition of change, flexibility and transformation.

Starting with the basic idea of "metamorphosis" in 2020 via the associatively rich artificial word "Zwischensamkeit" in 2021 and the suggestion "aufBruch" in 2022, the festival implements inspirational notions to pave new ways for a movement through art, to dissolve overly rigid forms and confinements, and to make the technical term "structural change" tangible in human terms.

The fourth season marks the first time the "Lausitz Festival" is organized in an independent organization. Since April, the Lausitz Festival GmbH has been operating as a non-profit company of the cities of Cottbus/Chóśebuz and Görlitz.
