Netherlands and Flanders

The Netherlands and Flanders will jointly be the guest of honor at the Leipzig Book Fair in 2024. Interdisciplinary projects and participation in nationwide festivals will introduce a new generation of literary and artistic creators from the neighbouring countries to the German audience. The campaign focusses on formats that go beyond the mere presentation of books, take up current topics and cross borders. An active exchange with other disciplines such as the performing and visual arts, the creative industries and film is to be expected. Major Dutch, Flemish and German cultural partners will be involved in the programming.

Under the motto "Alles außer flach!", the Netherlands & Flanders already gave a first taste of their guest country appearance in 2024 in 37 events during the Leipzig Book Fair 2023.

The Dutch Literature Foundation / Nederlands Letterenfonds in Amsterdam, Flanders Literature in Antwerp as well as the Dutch Embassy and the Representation of Flanders in Berlin are responsible for the realisation of the guest country appearance.

The accompanying book podcast "Kopje koffie" presents a wealth of new publications from the Netherlands and Flanders.
