KÄTHE KOLLWITZ and BERLIN

Looking for traces on Kollwitz 150th anniversary

July 5 to September 24, 2017

Käthe Kollwitz’ 150th anniversary is a welcome occasion for Galerie Parterre Berlin to recognize the artists life and oeuvre right where spent her living days with an exhibition, an extensive publication and several events.

Famous German artist Käthe Kollwitz (1867 – 1945) has produced an oeuvre that til today receives worldwide recognition. From 1891 to 1943 she lived in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg, at Weißenburger Straße 25 (today Kolliwitzstraße 56). Bombs destroyed the house in 1943, Kollwitz had fled Nordhausen by then. The street and the park in front of the house pay tribute to Kollwitz by carrying her name.

The special exhibition at the historical site presents 70 exclusive objects from the Käthe Kollwitz Museum Cologne, displaying an overview about her graphical work.
