The Jewish Community in Hamburg is organizing the first Jewish Culture Days in the Hanseatic city. Between the opening concert on November 4 at the Elbphilharmonie and the traditional Hanukkah market at the end on December 10, more than 40 events will be held for five weeks. The program presents the broad spectrum of Jewish cultural life in the fields of Judaism, music, literature, film, dance and theater, religion, history, urban history and Jewish everyday life. Thirty venues are involved, helping to create a forum for encounters and promote dialogue between non-Jewish and Jewish people.
The opening event, the silent film concert "Jewish Happiness" at the Elbphilharmonie, is already a highlight, followed by the staged reading "At Home with Ida Dehmel" with Barbara Nüsse from the Thalia Theater at the Dehmelhaus, a concert with the legendary Ginzburg Dynasty at the Rolf Liebermann Studio of the NDR, the reading "Unverschämt jüdisch" (Unashamedly Jewish) with Barbara Honigmann at the Literaturhaus, and other events at renowned venues, educational and literary institutions throughout Hamburg.
