Master House Kandinsky/Klee

Bauhaus Icon by Walter Gropius in Dessau

Reopening by Wüstenrot Foundation on 17 April 2019

With the reopening of selected Bauhaus buildings, visitors will be given access to premises that were previously not or only partially accessible, including parts of the workshop wing of the Bauhaus Building.

A special highlight is the reopening of the Master House Kandinsky/Klee. There, the exceptionally colorful scheme of the interiors has been restored on the historical model with the help of the Wüstenrot Foundation which invested 1.5 Mio € in planning and building costs. After 20 years of intensive use, the basic restoration was necessary to preserve the house as a Bauhaus heritage in the long term and to convey the special quality of this architecture to the public.

On 17 April 2019, the Wüstenrot Foundation will present the results together with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation with an exclusive press preview (11.30 am) and a conference for conservation professionals (4.30 pm). Additionally, parts of the Bauhaus which were previously closed and the project "Bauhaus Buildings Dessau: Originals Retold” will be presented to the press (10 am / alternative 4 pm).
