August 5 to 21, 2022
Young Euro Classic is the world’s most important platform for young international orchestra musicians active in the European classical music tradition and its contemporary developments. For 17 days every summer, orchestras from all over the world perform at Berlin’s Konzerthaus on Gendarmenmarkt. Young Euro Classic 2022 will take place from August 5 - 21 at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
Finally, following two pandemic years, large orchestras are allowed to play on the Konzerthaus stage again: The National Youth Orchestra of the USA opens the festival under the direction of Daniel Harding with Elgar's Cello Concerto, played by Alisa Weilerstein. Ensembles from all over the world will be performing 17 concert evenings with programs of classical and contemporary international orchestral music. Considering the upsetting developments in world events, European values must prove themselves more than ever. The performance of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine under the direction of Oksana Lyniv is therefore of particular importance for Young Euro Classic.
The festival takes place in close cooperation with the Konzerthaus Berlin. The concerts will again take place in front of a full house, in full length including an intermission. Masks must be worn throughout the concerts (subject to change).
