Architectual Icons by Ulrich Müther

Ulrich Müther (1934–2007) is famous for his impressive monocoque constructions. With financial support of Wüstenrot Stiftung, two important examples of his architecture have recently been restored on the island of Rügen.

The foundation donated 350.000 Euro for “Rettungsturm 1” (1981/82), a former rescue tower for the lifeguards located at the beach of Binz, which will be reopened on April 26th.

Another six-figure sum is financing the restoration of the “Kurmuschel” (1986-1988), a shell-shaped music pavilion located at the promenade of Sassnitz.
