Since its opening in 1991, the Kunsthalle Münster has presented national and international contemporary art. The temporary exhibitions focus on current trends and socially relevant topics. As part of the municipal department of Culture, Kunsthalle Münster is responsible for the art works belonging to the city's public collection.
The fellowship program Residence NRW⁺, which has been affiliated with the Kunsthalle Münster since 2020, is entering its third round. For the period 01.10.23 - 30.09.24, eight residency grants have again been awarded. The artists and curators will live and work for six and twelve months respectively in the new, permanent, location in the Hoppengarten. The property, which has been specially adapted for the fellowship program, is part of the former Heerde-Kolleg, which was built according to the plans of the Münster architect Harald Deilmann.
