In the relaxed atmosphere of an urban summer, Berlin’s well-known open-air artists’ fair ART…ESSENZ will once again welcome art fans with more than 3,000 works. 40 visual artists from Germany and abroad will be there in person to sell their works under the impressive Sony Center roof. The works are all unique items, limited editions, series or multiples. ART…ESSENZ provides an informal setting for art lovers, collectors and buyers of contemporary works. The artists’ fair has now become a firm feature of the art scene in Berlin.

The annual ART…ESSENZ Edition is a special highlight: every participating artist produces an original that has not yet been available on the art market.

The broad spectrum from abstract to naturalist is a powerful magnet to visitors, as is the versatile mix of genres, with a particular abundance of paintings, prints and drawings, sculpture and photography. This is a chance to talk personally to the artists or to plan a studio visit or a commission.

Naturally all the participating visual artists from home and abroad will be there in person to sell their works beneath the striking roof of the Sony Center. This year there will be many new features to discover and visitors to ART…ESSENZ will have the opportunity to create their own works under professional guidance in art classes:

Fri, 23 August, 6:30 pm    “live tube painting” – kebab skewers & acrylic paint guns with Jacob Reh
Fri, 23 August, 7 pm “just enjoy” – fun painting with Tonia Alvarez
Sat, 24 August, 5 pm “forever young” – special portraits with Michael Auth
Sat, 24 August, 7 pm “your own frame” – make your own artwork with Wolfgang Leonhardt
Sun, 25 August, 3 pm “just imagine how great you are …” – design your own intaglio with Anna Käse
Sun, 25 August, 5 pm “for daily use” – draw everyday objects with Heike Munser

At 6 pm every day there will be a guided tour of the fair – a chance to hear more from the artists personally and to gain deeper insights into how they work.
