Leipzig Book Fair 2023

27 - 30 April 2023

The Forum Open Society is new format presented at the Leipzig Book Fair 2023. Current discourses on pressing social issues will take place each hour during the four book fair days. Debates on democracy, discrimination, diversity, integration, war, freedom of expression and human rights will be in focus. Participants include authors, politicians, scientists and journalists. Among others, Patrick Bahners, Zoë Beck, Asal Dardan, Julia Ebner, Lena Falkenhagen, Gerd Koenen, Şeyda Kurt, Peter Laudenbach, Birte Meier, Kateryna Mishchenko, Monty Ott, Minister of State Claudia Roth, Bastian Schlange, Ilija Trojanow, Harald Welzer.

The forum is framed by daily podcast recordings. The editorial staff of "Quoted Medienpodcast", "MDR Das große Ganze - gesellschaftskritischer Podcast" and "Piratensender Powerplay" produce live from the book fair.

A cultural bridge to the film world is built by the integration of the DOK Leipzig festival. Short films on the diversity of our society will be shown daily. Other event partners include: Federal Agency for Civic Education, PEN Germany, German Publishers and Booksellers Association, Saxon Academy of the Arts, German Writers Association and the publisher alliance Verlage gegen Rechts (publishers against the right).
